With a view to the safety of people, it seeks to provide an effective means of alerting the threat and providing information on how to deal with emergencies. Until recently, people were warned of a fire or other type of threat in most buildings using acoustic beacons (popularly known as sirens).

Informing with acoustic signalers, however, carried a number of disadvantages. The most important of these are:

• Possibility of causing panic
• No other information can be provided except for an alarm
• No possibility to cancel alarm
• There is no possibility of determining the type of threa
• There is no possibility of communicating the way in case of a threat
• There is no possibility of providing information on escape route
• Low efficiency of information transmission (Only about 14% of people treat alarms transmitted by acoustic beacons as true).

These defects are devoid of Sound Alert Systems, which transmit information through loudspeakers. In addition to the danger messaging feature, Audible Alert Systems can be used to broadcast ads, inform about promotions, background music, which is especially useful for certain types of sites such as Shopping Centers. Systems can operate as a Voice Alarm System (with the ability to act as a broadcasting system) or to serve as a broadcasting system. This makes it possible to communicate effectively with the environment in situations of danger and in everyday life.

The solutions proposed by digitec meet all the requirements of the Polish Standard PN-EN 60849 and the Ordinance of the Minister of Interior and Administration of 16 June 2003. On Fire Protection of Buildings, Other Buildings and Sites – in the section on Sound Warning Systems (DSO).

(Polski) Wad tych pozbawione są Systemy Nagłośnieniowe pełniące rolę Dźwiękowych Systemów Ostrzegawczych, w których przekazywanie informacji realizowane jest za pomocą głośników. Dodatkowo oprócz funkcji przekazywania komunikatów o niebezpieczeństwie Dźwiękowe Systemy Ostrzegawcze mogą być używane do transmitowania reklam, informowania o promocjach, nadawania muzyki w tle, co jest szczególnie przydatne w niektórych typach obiektów np. Centrach Handlowych. Systemy mogą pracować jako Dźwiękowy System Ostrzegawczy (przy jednoczesnej możliwości pełnienia funkcji systemu rozgłaszania) lub też pełnić jedynie funkcję systemu rozgłaszania. Dzięki temu umożliwiają efektywną komunikację z otoczeniem w sytuacjach zagrożenia oraz w życiu codziennym.

Rozwiązania proponowane przez digitec spełniają wszystkie wymagania określone w Polskiej Normie PN-EN 60849 oraz Rozporządzeniu Ministra Spraw Wewnętrznych i Administracji z dnia 16 czerwca 2003r. w sprawie ochrony przeciwpożarowej budynków, innych obiektów budowlanych i terenów – w części dotyczącej Dźwiękowych Systemów Ostrzegawczych (DSO).
